No new WPCA CEO yet

The WPCA, meanwhile, have not yet appointed a new chief executive officer. Former CEO Michael Canterbury’s tenure ended earlier this year.

Dolphins Cricket chief executive officer Heinrich Strydom was offered the position, but declined.

“Despite a diligent and thorough process, we regret to inform you that we have not been able to conclude with a successful appointment of a candidate,” said WPCA president Johannes Adams last month.

“The preferred candidate was made a counteroffer by his association, which in his words, he ‘couldn’t refuse’ and hence opted out of the discussions with the WPCA.

“After considering all options and exploring the most effective way forward, the board, on recommendation from the human resources and remunerations committee, in consultation with Cricket South and other stakeholders, have decided to move to a new round of recruitment.

“This next round will be targeted and by invitation only. We believe this approach will allow us to focus our efforts more effectively and identify the most suitable candidate for the position. Thank you for your understanding and continued support throughout this process.”

Adams told Club Cricket SA three candidates have been shortlisted for the CEO role since Strydom declined.
