Tygerberg Cricket Club robbed, ‘huge amount of liquor’ stolen

Tygerberg Cricket Club was burgled recently.

The Western Province Cricket Association first division A club is based in Ravensmead.

“Not the way we expected to make the first post of 2023. Bad news as the clubhouse was once again broken into and ransacked,” Tygerberg Cricket Club wrote on social media.

The club listed a “huge amount of liquor, especially ciders” among the stolen items, which also included deep fryers and several litres of paint.

“They would have carted the items in two cricket bags and a grey dustbin,” added Tygerberg Cricket Club.

“If you have any information, please contact Ravensmead South African Police Service. My message to these thugs is very clear – God don’t sleep. Please be on the look out.”

Tygerberg Cricket Club are the reigning Ama20 Competition first division A champions.

Former Proteas seamer Vernon Philander represented Tygerberg Cricket Club for several years.
