The University of Cape Town Cricket Club have advertised for a head coach ahead of a proposed return to Western Province Cricket Association women’s club cricket.
The position is for a 12-month contract, from 1 August 2022 to 1 August 2023.
UCT Cricket Club had a women’s team several seasons ago. It folded in 2014. This new team won’t re-enter WPCA competition for the 2022-23 season. The team will likely rejoin eventually.
“Responsibilities include proper and efficient coaching of the first women’s cricket team. Drawing up of structured, organised training sessions focused on improving each individual performance and drawing up attendance registers at training,” read a statement from the club.
“Assisting the team captain in helping select the best possible student team. Assisting in attracting talented athletes to UCT by ensuring they apply for sports scholarships with a focus on attracting black African players to UCT.
“Attend all events in which the team participates. Engaging actively in continuous personal development and the development of UCT players.
“Provide monthly progress reports relating to the coaching plan and implementation of new training methods.”
