Altius United Cricket Club’s Dane Piedt, Western Province Cricket Club’s Dane Vilas and Madibaz Cricket Club’s Simon Harmer have been named in South Africa’s squad for November and December’s four-Test series against India.

Off-spinner Piedt clinched a resounding eight wickets on Test debut against Zimbabwe in August 2014, but was later sidelined by injury.

His return to competitive cricket, since, featured a key role in United’s title-winning campaign in the Western Province Cricket Association’s Grand Challenge Cup.

When not playing alongside Piedt for the Cape Cobras, wicketkeeper-batsman Vilas remains a stalwart at WPCC, who are represented in the WPCA premier league, reserve league A, B and G – and third division A.

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University-based Madibaz Cricket Club, meanwhile, recently honoured off-spinner Harmer for being the first Test cricketer to be selected from the educational institution since its 2005 merger.
