Former Montrose Cricket Club and Ottoman Cricket Club batsman Qaasim Adams has returned to United Cricket Club, ahead of the 2017-18 season.
The 33-year-old left-hander, who has played franchise cricket for the Titans, Warriors, Lions and Cape Cobras, was contracted by the latter earlier this year – and will rejoin the club he played for as a teenager.
“He has rejoined us at United Cricket Club. He initially came to us as a 10-year-old and eventually captained the first team to a league title in 2008-9. He will also be part of the management team,” United Cricket Club president Ashraf Burns told Club Cricket SA.
United Cricket Club compete in the Western Province Cricket Association first division A – and occupied sixth position in 2016-17’s 10-team standings, after four wins in nine attempts.
They triumphed over Milnerton Cricket Club and Victoria Cricket Club, who finished first and second, respectively, and Avendale Cricket Club and Kuils River Cricket Club. Defeats to third- and second-last finishers Tygerberg Cricket Club and Montrose Cricket Club, respectively, were arguably their worst of the season.
