‘Unwavering commitment, infectious enthusiasm’ – Primrose Cricket Club mourn Grant Petersen’s death

Longstanding Primrose Cricket Club member Grant Petersen passed away on Thursday, 23 November 2023. He was 59 years old.

Petersen previous served on Primrose Cricket Club’s committee and, this season, was the Western Province Veterans Cricket match secretary.

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform members of Primrose Cricket Club and the cricket community of the sad and untimely passing of a true Primrose Cricket Club stalwart, Grant Petersen,” read a statement from the club.

“Grant passed away earlier today, on 23 November 2023, at 2pm, in hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

“Grant was not just a dedicated member of our club; he was an integral part of its very fabric. His unwavering commitment to the game of cricket and his infectious enthusiasm inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

“Grant’s contributions to our club, both on and off the field, were immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt. His dedication to nurturing talent, his sportsmanship, and his leadership qualities set an example for all of us to follow.

“Grant’s legacy at Primrose Cricket Club will forever be etched in our memories and will continue to inspire future generations of cricketers.

“We understand that this loss is deeply felt by all of us, and our thoughts and prayers are with Grant’s family during this difficult time. As a club, we will also come together to offer our support to his family and ensure that Grant’s memory lives on through the sport he loved so much.”
