Varsity College CC reflect on WPCA second division debut

Varsity College Cricket Club ended the 2021-22 Western Province Cricket Association second division in fifth position.

They won 13 and lost six fixtures. This was their maiden season in the 12-team WPCA second division, which was won by Bergvliet Cricket Club.

“The club has learnt a lot during the season and we will take these lessons into the off-season,” said Varsity College sport coordinator, Brent Davids.

“We are extremely proud of what we have achieved in our first league season.

“The club will come out stronger in the upcoming season. The club also looks forward to launching the second team and a women’s team. This club is more than the sport they love, its a family and a brotherhood.”

Partnership with Western Province Cricket Club

“Our new partnership with WPCC has allowed the gents to train and play using their outstanding facilities which, has been of great benefit to the club,” added Davids.

Top Varsity College Cricket Club batsman

“One of the biggest highlights was Liam February scoring 1021 runs in a season. He was a stalwart for the team,” concluded Davids.

Varsity College Cricket Club’s head coach is Trevor Timm. Their captain is Christian Pietersen.

“I feel very privileged and honoured to lead the side in such an important and special game,” said Pietersen.
