Varsity College Cricket Club: We wish Wynberg Cricket Club the best of luck at Newlands

Varsity College Cricket Club will play Wynberg Cricket Club in Saturday, 5 April 2025’s Western Province Cricket Association first division C T20 final at Newlands.

Varsity College Cricket Club won last season’s WPCA first division D T20 title before being promoted to this season’s first division C – and have since been promoted to next season’s first division B.

“We’re just grateful to be part of such a prestigious event. The quality of cricket being played is incredible, and for our club and players to step onto the field at Newlands is something we truly strive for,” said Varsity College Cricket Club chairperson Brent Davids.

“We know it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be head to head, and we’re hoping that the best team performs on the day. We wish Wynberg Cricket Club the best of luck and look forward to an exciting clash.

“This is an incredible opportunity, not just for us but for all the clubs taking part. We’re expecting nothing less than high-intensity cricket, and from our side, we are extremely grateful to be in the final.”

Wynberg Cricket Club want to ‘make this a final to remember’

Wynberg Cricket Club player-coach Mohammed Rahman added: “The club is immensely proud of our first XI for reaching the final of the T20 competition once again. This marks our third final in the past five years – a testament to the dedication, skill, and resilience of our squad.

“Their hard work, commitment and team spirit have once again placed us among the top sides in the competition.

“T20 cricket in our league is fiercely competitive, with every team pushing the limits of skill and strategy. Reaching the final is never guaranteed and the journey has been filled with intense battles, showcasing the depth of talent in the competition.

“As we prepare for the final, we recognise the quality of our opposition and acknowledge the challenge ahead. We wish them the best of luck for what promises to be an exciting and hard-fought contest.
