Victoria Cricket Club mourn death of Rory Overmeyer

Victoria Cricket Club seamer Rory Overmeyer has died.

Overmeyer played for Victoria Cricket Club in the 2021-22 Western Province Cricket Association premier league – and several seasons prior.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our players – Rory Overmeyer. At the tender age of 25, Rory has bid his farewell to us,” read a statement from Victoria Cricket Club.

“We, the club, as his cricket family, are in heavy loss for words at this time. We would like to pass on our deepest condolences to his father Ettienne, Carmen, his sister Caitlin and brother Dale, who was by his side everyday during his battle.

“We, the Victoria CC family, feel this loss with you as Rory was a brother to many of us. He will be sorely missed. Rest easy, Rory.”

Cape Town Cricket Club said: “We share in Victoria Cricket Club’s mourning of Rory’s passing. He’ll be remembered as a solid competitor and all-round great guy. Sincerest condolences from all at CTCC.”
