Victoria Cricket Club ‘unable to match offer’ as head coach Saadiek Davids resigns after WPCA premier league promotion

Victoria Cricket Club head coach Saadiek Davids resigned this week.

Davids joined Victoria Cricket Club in 2023. In 2024, he coached them to Western Province Cricket Association first division A promotion. In 2025, he achieved WPCA premier league promotion with Victoria Cricket Club. He also won the WPCA first division A T20 title with them earlier this month.

“It is with a mix of gratitude and sadness that we inform you of Saadiek’s decision to resign from his position at Victoria Cricket Club. Saadiek has been offered a new opportunity that provides greater stability and prospects – one he ultimately felt was in his best interest to accept, and one that we, as a club, were unable to match at this time,” read a statement from Victoria Cricket Club.

“During his tenure with Victoria CC, Saadiek has been a pillar of dedication, passion, and professionalism. His exceptional contributions have not only elevated our coaching standards but also helped foster a culture of unity, discipline, and mutual respect. His leadership has left a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to work with him.

“Saadiek has shared his heartfelt appreciation for being part of the Victoria CC family. He spoke warmly of the personal and professional growth he experienced, and expressed great belief in the continued potential and spirit of our squad. The friendships and memories built during his time here will remain a cherished part of his journey.

“While we are saddened to see him go, we fully support and respect his decision. We wish him nothing but success, fulfilment, and continued growth in his future endeavours. Saadiek will share details of his next chapter in due course.
