Victoria Cricket Club do ‘what many thought impossible, securing back-to-back promotions’

Victoria Cricket Club will be promoted to the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association premier league after ending the 2024-25 first division A in second position.

Victoria Cricket Club won 17 and lost five matches for 82 points on this season’s WPCA first division A points table. They finished three points behind first-placed Rylands Cricket Club.

“In 2021, the club was relegated to the WPCA first division B after having been relegated from the premier league the season before. In just two seasons, the club has done what many thought impossible, securing back-to-back promotions to bring us back to where we belong,” read a statement from Victoria Cricket Club.

“This journey is a testament to the hard work and perseverance shown by every club member during a challenging period.”

All-rounders Jordan Fourie and Warren Ekstraal were among Victoria Cricket Club’s leading run-scorers and wicket-takers.

Head coach Saadiek Davids, who joined Victoria Cricket Club in 2023, added: “Mission completed, What a moment, what a season and what a club.

“This incredible journey has been made possible through hours of sacrifice, unwavering support, belief and hard work every day. It’s not about the destination, but about the journey, where friendships have been forged, families have come together and lifetime bonds have been built.

“I’m beyond proud of everyone at the club, no matter the role you played – it all paid off, and this is proof of what teamwork can achieve. This year, we’ve accomplished some amazing achievements.”
