West Indies captain Kieron Pollard hit a record six sixes in one over during Wednesday’s first T20I against Sri Lanka at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
Pollard achieved the record off leg-spinner Akila Dananjaya, who had earlier taken a hat-trick.
One of Dananjaya’s dismissals was batsman Chris Gayle, whose return to international cricket after a two-year break was marked by a first-ball duck.
The hosts won the match by four wickets, after reaching a 132-run target with 41 deliveries to spare. They have an early lead in the three-match series.
Pollard is not the first to collect this record. South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs did it against the Netherlands during the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean. The bowler was Daan van Bunge.
March a popular month for hitting 6x6s

During the 2007 World Twenty20 in South Africa, India’s Yuvraj Singh collected six sixes in an over off England seamer Stuart Broad.
