Former Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn has been appointed Washington Freedom bowling coach for the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket in the United States of America.

Steyn recently worked with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

“It is important to build that winning culture around a young franchise right from the offset. Delighted to have the legend Dale Steyn on board with us,” said Washington Freedom owner Sanjay Govil.

“The idea of having such a figure on American shores spending time with some of the youngsters on the squad is truly exciting.”

Steyn will continue to work with Proteas seamer Marco Jansen, who was with the Sunrisers in the IPL and will be with Washington in MLC.
