All-rounder Wayne Parnell is among several players who have joined the Tuskers ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.
The Tuskers have been promoted to division one and have signed Parnell from Western Province, fast bowler Daryn Dupavillon from the Dolphins, fast bowler Hardus Viljoen from Northern Cape and others. Parnell, Dupavillon and Viljoen have played for the Proteas.
“I might be going into the last few years of my career, but the goal still remains the same, winning is always at the forefront of why I play cricket,” said Parnell.
“Winning will continue to be the ultimate goal, but the first priority for the team is to make sure that they stay in division one. We also want to establish a culture that is geared towards winning and if we can achieve that this season then that puts us in a good position going forward. The game is played for enjoyment but ultimately we play to win.”

Parnell will work alongside Tuskers head coach Ahmed Amla and assistant coach Yusuf Abdulla. Amla and Abdulla coached the Tuskers to the 2024-25 4-Day Domestic Series, division two, title.
“Ahmed Amla has the biggest part to play in me coming to Pietermaritzburg. We had a conversation that was pretty open and honest, and quite frank, with regards to what he was looking for and the expectations,” added Parnell.
“That aligned with where I was at and my thinking, so it was a pretty straightforward decision after that. A few days after our discussion I ended up signing. Ahmed is someone that I respect, and I’ve known him for my whole career and I’m really looking forward to linking up with him again.”
The Tuskers have also signed seamers Bamanye Xenxe and Renaldo Meyer from the Warriors and North West, respectively.
“You want to reward the guys that brought the team up from division two and there is also a good influx of experience into the squad. If I can add any sort of value to any of the players there that would be part of my job description and doing that is appealing for me,” concluded Parnell.
