Proteas all-rounder Wayne Parnell will join the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League this week.

Parnell has replaced the injured Reece Topley in the Bangalore squad.

“Reece, unfortunately, had to go back home because he’s been ruled out of the tournament,” said Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Sanjay Bangar.

“We tried our best to keep him here, but the treatment and the experts suggest that he’s going to be out of action for some time.”

Parnell has previously represented the Delhi Capitals and Pune Warriors in the IPL.

“Parnell has so far represented South Africa in 56 T20Is, in addition to six Tests and 73 ODIs, and has 59 T20I wickets to his name,” read a statement from the IPL.

“The left-arm pacer has played 26 IPL matches and has as many IPL wickets. He joins RCB for 75 lakh.”

Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis is the captain of RCB.
