West Indies name Over-50 World Cup squad, appoint Allison Johnson coach

The West Indies squad for March 2023’s Over-50 World Cup in South Africa has been confirmed.

Former Barbados seamer Allison Johnson has been named head coach of West Indies Over-50.

Johnson is currently the head coach of Claremont Cricket Club in Cape Town, too.

Claremont Cricket Club are the reigning Ama20 Competition champions – and are pursuing the 2022-23 Western Province Cricket Association premier league title.

Batsman Ishwar Maraj, who played six ODIs for Canada during the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, has been included in the West Indies Over-50 squad.

The tournament will feature 56 matches at several venues across Cape Town and surrounds, from 6 to 20 March. The final will be played at Newlands.
