Seamer Wesley Bedja has left Western Province Cricket Club for Rondebosch Cricket Club, ahead of the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.

Bedja, who has also represented Stranfontein Cricket Club, confirmed the move to Club Cricket SA earlier this week.

Western Province Cricket Club finished sixth to fifth-placed Rondebosch Cricket Club at the end of the 2018-19 WPCA premier league. Both won 13 of 22 matches, but Rondebosch Cricket Club gathered more bonus points. Right-armer Bedja took 17 wickets in 11 innings at an average of under 18, according to WebSports.

‘Extreme gratitude’ to Western Province Cricket Club

“I’m extremely grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given by WPCC, but I just feel that my time there has ended. I am keen to see what I can do at Rondebosch Cricket Club. I am excited to see what this coming season has to offer,” said Bedja.

“I know that I am parting ways with WPCC on good terms. I feel at this point in my career it’s time for a change – and now is the time for that change. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn and improve my game – and I see this as another opportunity to do so.”

WPCC, meanwhile, are recruiting a new coach. They were coached by the experienced Rasheed Lewis during the 2018-19 season.
