Western Province Over-40 trials shortlist grows to 43 with addition of 11 players

Players from Montrose Cricket Club, Hanover Park Cricket Club, Primrose Cricket Club, Victoria Cricket Club and Fish Hoek Cricket Club have been added to the shortlist for this month’s Western Province Over-40 trials.

The list featured 33 players earlier this week, but has since grown to 43 with the additions of:

  • Shaheen Pandie (Hanover Park Cricket Club);
  • Nizaam Adams (Hanover Park Cricket Club);
  • Kevin Greentree (Hanover Park Cricket Club);
  • Faghrie Emandien (Primrose Cricket Club);
  • Ashley Fernandez (Victoria Cricket Club);
  • Heathcliffe du Plooy (Montrose Cricket Club);
  • Niaz Ahmed (Montrose Cricket Club);
  • Shaheen Meyer (Montrose Cricket Club);
  • Shamiel Bey (Montrose Cricket Club);
  • Brandon Miller (Fish Hoek Cricket Club); and
  • Derek Pedersen (Fish Hoek Cricket Club).

“The selection committee has selected players who are over 40 years old and playing in either the Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league (WPVCA) or Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) leagues,” read a statement from the WPVCA.

Rondebosch Cricket Club all-rounder Alistair Gray was initially included. He has, however, since been removed from the shortlist.

Former Proteas Roger Telemachus and Ashwell Prince have remained on the shortlist.
