Leg-spinning all-rounder Ben Ward has been named in the Cape Cobras’ squad for the 2020-21 One-Day Cup.

Ward has been capped 13 times at T20I level for Jersey, most recently against Oman, Ireland and Hong Kong in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in October 2019.

He debuted for Boland at List A level in the CSA One-Day Challenge in February 2020.

“Ben was born in Jersey and represents them at ICC associate level, but is a South African passport holder,” said Cobras head coach Ashwell Prince.

“He had some excellent performances for Maties in the Varsity Cup, which was played at the same ground, Senwes Park, in a similar type of tournament where the fixtures are congested. The square gets a lot of traffic on it, so spin comes more and more into play.”

The 22-year-old is the son of Western Province Cricket Club head coach Laurie Ward.
