Western Province have updated the squad for Wednesday’s One-Day Cup fixture against the Titans at Newlands in Cape Town.
The 14-man squad has been increased to 17. All-rounders Abdullah Bayoumy and Oliver Whitehead – and seamer Jody Lawrence – have been added.
Western Province, who are the reigning champions, currently occupy sixth position in division one of this year’s One-Day Cup after one win and two defeats. Their most recent loss was to the Knights in Bloemfontein.
“Not a lot of positives to take from the results on Saturday, but I think the performances of George Linde and Kyle Simmonds have been really good throughout the season,” said Western Province captain Kyle Verreynne.
“Both of those guys were good again on Saturday – they were good with the bat and ball. So I think those are probably the two positive things that we can take out of the loss.
“It’s quite a quick turnaround to the game on Wednesday, but I think we’ll just try and keep things nice and simple.
“We’ve had a thorough debrief and I think we know exactly where we went wrong and what things we can do a little bit differently going into Wednesday’s encounter. It’s going to be a tough one against the Titans, but I think we’ll be ready for it.”

After Wednesday’s fixture against the Titans, Western Province will host the Dolphins in Cape Town on Sunday. Next week, Western Province will travel to Port Elizabeth to play the Warriors.
“Obviously two back-to-back home games I think is always really exciting. I think hopefully that gives us a little bit of momentum that we need in the competition and I think also playing in conditions that we’re quite familiar with will hopefully be a big boost,” added Verreynne.
“It’s quite important that we get our campaign back on track and I think two back-to-back home games is really positive for us.”
