WP advertise head coach post – this is what’s needed to replace Ashwell Prince

Western Province have advertised the vacant head coach role.

Former head coach Ashwell Prince resigned last week. He has been appointed Bangladesh’s batting coach on a full-time basis.

“An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and motivated coach to join the Western Province team. This is a fixed-term contract and the duration will be negotiated,” read a statement from Western Province Professional Cricket.

“Western Province Cricket controls all professional players and professional cricket under its
jurisdiction. The position will be based at Newlands Cricket Ground and the role will also involve significant domestic travel.

“The candidate will be required to head up the coaching structure of the Western Province team and work closely with all existing coaching structures within the entity. The candidate will report to the chief executive officer.

Remuneration commensurate with qualification and experience for this position will be negotiated
with the successful applicant.”

Western Province assistant coach Faiek Davids has been named acting head coach until a full-time appointment has been made.
