All-rounder Abdallah Bayoumy has been named in Western Province’s squad for this month’s T20 Challenge in Potchefstroom.
Bayoumy has played for South Africa Under-19 – and represents Rylands Cricket Club in Western Province Cricket Association premier league competition.
Brackenfell Cricket Club’s Aviwe Mgijima was initially included in Western Province’s T20 Challenge squad, but has withdrawn due to injury. He has been replaced by batsman Lwando Tywaku.
Green Point Cricket Club’s Tony de Zorzi has been named captain and Cape Town Cricket Club’s Kyle Verreynne vice-captain.
The squad is without the injured Jonathan Bird and all-rounder Wayne Parnell, who is touring with the Proteas.

What WP coach Salieg Nackerdien said
“I’m really looking forward to this upcoming season and especially the T20 competition in Potchefstroom. I think we have selected a very good squad for the campaign, a nice blend of experienced and young players, which is very exciting,” said Nackerdien.
“The players have worked extremely hard on their skills and conditioning these past four months. We were very fortunate with the weather in September, as we were able to play 10 warm-up games including three T20 matches against the Rocks.
“The players are in a good space and they just need to now build on this and back their preparation.”
