Western Province have named a 13-man squad for this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series fixture against the Warriors at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
This will be Western Province’s first first-class fixture of the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.
Western Province Colts and Claremont Cricket Club leg-spinner Josh Breed has been included in the squad. Breed has played in the One-Day Cup, but not yet the 4-Day Domestic Series.
Western Province are without several Proteas cricketers for this fixture. These include wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne, all-rounder George Linde and batsmen Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham.
“I think all of us are really excited about the opportunity in this four-day competition. We’ve got a great group of guys – we’ve got a nice mixed blend between the youth and the experienced guys. We are eyeing out the trophy and hopefully through our hard work we can bring it back home,” said WP batsman Daniel Smith.
“Obviously we’re missing our Proteas boys, so it’s given a lot of the younger guys opportunities to showcase their talent. So, I think guys are wanting to go there and put their hand up for the first game.”

Western Province compete in division one of South African domestic cricket. They ended the 2024-25 T20 Challenge, 4-Day Domestic Series and One-Day Cup in fourth, fifth and last position, respectively.
Former Proteas seamer and franchise batsman Rory Kleinveldt and Qaasim Adams have since been appointed Western Province head and assistant coach, respectively.
