The Western Province Cricket Association have belatedly confirmed the winners of the 2019-20 premier league title.
First-placed Rondebosch Cricket Club were 13 points ahead of second-placed Durbanville Cricket Club in the WPCA premier league standings when the 2019-20 season was suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 12 WPCA premier league teams had played 21 of the scheduled 22 fixtures each at the time of the suspension. Rondebosch Cricket Club had beaten Durbanville Cricket Club in both meetings.
“The outstanding log matter of the 2020 season between Rondebosch CC and Durbanville CC was resolved and the decision was that the trophy will be shared,” read an excerpt from this month’s WPCA members council report.
Durbanville Cricket Club have won the WPCA premier league title twice – and Rondebosch Cricket Club once – since 2020.
