The Western Province Cricket Association have confirmed Indwe balls will be used across all leagues and divisions during the 2024-25 club season.
Indwe replaced Kookaburra balls in the WPCA premier league in 2022 – and has since replaced Protea and Whacker balls in other leagues and divisions.
“We conducted a refer for proposal process for the purchase of balls for the ensuing season. The RFP process was concluded and we would like to inform clubs that all leagues will be playing with the Indwe ball for the season across all leagues – it only differs between four- and two-piece balls for the respective leagues,” said WPCA cricket services manager Clinton du Preez.
Du Preez also reiterated the appointment of new club cricket coordinator Thabo Spelman – and the implementation of performance measures for all clubs during the 2024-25 season.
“We followed a thorough process to fill the club cricket coordinator vacancy – it is our pleasure to welcome Thabo as the new club cricket coordinator,,” added du Preez.
“The WPCA will be implementing a club cricket performance scorecard for the coming season – the scorecard will track:
- “team performances;
- “win ratios;
- “matters pertaining to governance and compliance;
- “club quality index; and
- “listed complaints.
“The performance scorecard is not a punitive tool, but to track clubs’ overall performances and to possibly reward performing clubs at the end of the 2024-25 season.”
