The four first division finals for the Western Province Cricket Association’s 2018-19 Ama20 Competition won’t likely be hosted at Newlands.
The finals are traditionally played at the iconic venue, but an alternative will probably be sought this time.
“[WPCA club cricket and facilities coordinator Lindsay O’Malley] presented the Ama20 Competition finals schedule, however, mentioned that due to all cricket at Newlands going up until May 2019, it is unlikely that the finals will take place at Newlands,” read an excerpt from the minutes of a WPCA local leagues committee meeting, which happened in mid-November.
“The committee have decided to decide on venues in January 2019.”
Avendale Cricket Club and Strandfontein Cricket Club will contest the first division A final.
