The Western Province Cricket Association have confirmed the semi-finalists for the 2025-26 T20 premier league.
Durbanville Cricket Club topped group A with 14 points, including two bonus points, after three wins and two losses.
Bellville Cricket Club, Rondebosch Cricket Club, Cape Town Cricket Club and Green Point Cricket Club effectively shared second position. They collected 13 points, including one bonus point, from three wins and two losses each. Rylands Cricket Club ended in last position in group A with zero points from no wins and five losses.
“As we transition from the group stages to the knockout phase, we wish to provide clarity regarding the determination of the semi-finalists in line with the WPCA T20 playing conditions and by-laws,” read a statement from the WPCA local leagues committee.
“When teams finish with equal log points and the number of wins and bonus points are identical – and head-to-head results do not yield a clear outcome due to multiple teams being involved – the tie-breaker is determined by net run-rate calculated only from the matches played between the teams that finished on equal points.
“Based on this method, and as reflected in the final log, the NRR of Bellville CC, Cape Town CC, and Rondebosch CC specifically in relation to Durbanville CC and Rylands CC does not influence the outcome of the tie-breaker.
“As a result, the semi-finalists for the 2025-26 WPCA T20 premier league, from group A, are confirmed as Durbanville Cricket Club and Green Point Cricket Club.
“We understand that this transition from group stages to the knockout phase may cause some uncertainty and we sincerely apologise for any confusion that may have arisen.
“Please be assured that the playing conditions have been applied consistently and transparently to ensure fairness across all participating teams.”

In group B, the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club and Western Province Cricket Club qualified for the semi-final stage of this season’s WPCA T20 premier league with 20 and 15 points, respectively.
Elsewhere in group B, Brackenfell Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Victoria Cricket Club and Ottoman Cricket Club failed to qualify for the semi-finals, which are scheduled for 2 November.
