Captain Derek Mitchell won the Players’ Player of the Year award at the Western Province Cricket Club awards ceremony for the 2022-23 season recently.
Mitchell also won the award for the best first XI batsman. He scored the most runs in 2022-23’s 12-team Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dan Da Costa was named best first XI fielder – and was awarded the best individual performance prize for a match-winning innings against Cape Town Cricket Club in the WPCA premier league.
Spinner and batsman Givon Christian was named best first XI all-rounder. Leg-spinner Justin Behrens won the best first XI bowler award.
