Wynberg Cricket Club head coach Marcus Oliphant has been appointed head coach of Western Province Over-50.
Oliphant is also the head coach of the Devil’s Peak Dragons in the Under-17 and Under-15 Cape Premier League.
He was franchise director at the Atlantic Pirates in the men’s CPL before joining the Dragons as assistant coach, too.
The 39-year-old Oliphant will coach a Western Province Over-50 squad that includes former Proteas Alan Dawson, Louis Koen and Steven Palframan. Koen has been named captain.
The majority of the Western Province Over-50 squad, which will compete in October 2022’s Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa inter-provincial tournament, were among the top performers in the 2021-22 Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league.
The South Africa Over-50 squad will be announced after the inter-provincial tournament.
