Yorkshire Cricket Club have appointed all-rounder Raees Carr captain for the 2024-25 Western Province Cricket Association first division C.
Carr joined Yorkshire Cricket Club from Cape Town Cricket Club in the WPCA premier league earlier this year. He previously represented the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club in the WPCA premier league, too.
“We are thrilled to announce that Raees will be stepping into the role of captain and Zain Allie will take on the role of vice-captain,” read a statement from Yorkshire Cricket Club.
“Known for his exceptional talent and youthful energy, Raees will now take on the senior leadership role, shouldering the responsibility with determination and a vision for the future. His dynamic style and skillset have earned him this opportunity to lead the team into an exciting new chapter.
“Raees will be supported by Zain, whose strategic mindset and cricketing expertise make him the perfect vice-captain. Together, they’ll form a strong leadership duo, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the team.”
Yorkshire Cricket Club were relegated to the WPCA first division C after ending the 2023-24 first division B in last position.
They have since signed several players, including spinner David Schierhout from Primrose Cricket Club, seamer Sabir Mallie from the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club and batsman Laeeq Cooper from Rylands Cricket Club.
