Rondebosch Cricket Club have recruited Zimbabwe seamer Brian Vitori for the remainder of their 2016-17 Western Province Cricket Association premier league campaign.

Vitori made four Test, 19 ODI and 11 Twenty20 International appearances between August 2011 and January 2016.

He proved particularly impressive in his first two ODIs, clinching figures of five for 30 and five for 20 against Bangladesh in Harare.

The 26-year-old left-armer was sidelined by an illegal bowling action earlier this year, but has since rectified this – and made a comeback for Zimbabwe A against Pakistan A in Bulawayo earlier this month.

A telling eight-wicket haul from spinner Robert Newby carried Rondebosch Cricket Club to a comfortable 80-run victory over Ottoman Cricket Club, who were promoted from the first division A earlier this year, in their opening fixture of the WPCA premier league season last week.

Rondebosch CC’s next match will be against St Augustine Cricket Club, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, on 29 October and 5 November.
