Batsman Zubayr Hamza recently reached 100 first-class matches.

Hamza, who debuted in first-class cricket in 2014, left Western Province for the Lions in 2023. His 100th first-class fixture was this month’s 4-Day Domestic Series, division one, final against the Titans at the Wanderers. Hamza hit a century in the match.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my move to the Wanderers and the high expectations in terms of standards and work ethic,” said Hamza.

“I feel like I’ve ticked those and I’ve fitted in nicely, which is important for me. It was a seamless move and the cricket has been of the standard expected.”

Hamza has collected eight Tests and one ODI for South Africa, but has not played international cricket since February 2024.

The Lions, meanwhile, have signed all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel and seamer Siya Plaatjie from the Warriors ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season.

Leg-spinner Junaid Dawood, batsman Muhammad Manack and seamer Tshepo Moreki have left the Lions for the Titans, Warriors and Western Province, respectively.
