Lions batsman Zubayr Hamza hit a century on day three of this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series, division one, final against the Titans at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
This is Hamza’s 100th first-class fixture. His first-class debut was in 2014.
This is Hamza’s 18th first-class century. His highest first-class score is the 222 not out hit for South Africa A against Zimbabwe A in 2021.
Hamza has been capped in Test cricket eight times. He has not played international cricket since February 2024.
Meanwhile, seamer Alfred Mothoa has moved to North West ahead of South Africa’s 2025-26 domestic season.
Mothoa was at the Warriors in division one for two seasons – and previously played for the Titans and Knights.
“I always wanted to go to Potchefstroom, even before I went to the Warriors, but obviously things did not work out. But, yes, I am at North West now,” Mothoa told OFM.
“I enjoyed Port Elizabeth and I think I left a mark on the youngsters there. It’s time for me to move on. I am 35 years old, but I feel I have a few more years in me to push through.
“I like how North West play cricket – they play hard cricket. Even though they have not won any trophies recently, they are edging closer every season.
“I want to get into the North West environment and add value. Hopefully, I can help the youngsters and work well with head coach Craig Alexander and the team.”
