Washington Freedom beat Texas Super Kings by six runs in this week’s Major League Cricket fixture at Grand Prairie Stadium.

Former Knights duo Andries Gous and Obus Pienaar hit seven and 18 not out in Washington Freedom’s final total of 163 for five in 20 overs. Proteas seamer Gerald Coetzee took two wickets.

Former Test spinner Dane Piedt took the wicket of Proteas batsman David Miller in Texas Super Kings’ reply of 157 for eight in 20 overs. West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo hit 76 not out.

“It was one of those wickets where it was not easy to bat on. It was brilliant to see Bravo bringing out the calypso flavour and playing that way,” said Texas Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis. “We lost too many wickets in the powerplay. When you are chasing such a target, you need a good start.”
