Leg-spinner Imran Tahir has joined the Texas Super Kings for this month’s inaugural edition of Major League Cricket.
The 44-year-old Tahir has replaced Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu, who has withdrawn from the Super Kings’ squad.
He will be team-mates with fellow South Africans David Miller, Gerald Coetzee and others at Texas.
Tahir played 20 Tests, 107 ODIs and 38 T20Is for the Proteas from 2011 to 2019. He has played in several domestic T20 leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Australia’s Big Bash Legaue and more.
The opening season of Major League Cricket is scheduled to start on 13 July 2023. It will comprise six teams.
The International Cricket Council have not given the tournament official T20 status. Like the United Arab Emirates, which stages the International League T20, the USA is not a full member nation of the ICC.
