Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo has moved to the Titans ahead of South Africa’s 2024-25 domestic season.

Phehlukwayo was previously with the Dolphins – and recently returned to Cricket South Africa’s list of contracted players.

“I’ve played my cricket in Durban all my life, so it’s all about a new challenge and a change of scenery,” Phehlukwayo told Rapport.

“The Titans are a good franchise, there’s nothing irrational about it. I part on good terms with the Dolphins. I’ll be looking at playing all three formats. I’m not closed off to red-ball cricket, but I’ll be concentrating on the white-ball stuff.”

He has not been included in South Africa’s squad for next month’s T20 World Cup in the United States of America and Caribbean.

Magala moves to Titans, too

The Titans have also signed fast bowler Sisanda Magala, who previously played for the Lions.

Magala hadn’t played for the Lions since October 2023, though. He has been capped eight times in ODI cricket and six times in T20I competition since debuting for the Proteas in 2021.

Van der Merwe returns to Titans

Meanwhile, former Proteas all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe has returned to the Titans as well.

Van der Merwe has not played for the Titans since 2015. He has been playing international cricket for the Netherlands since 2015 – and county cricket in England.

In 2023, he played for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the inaugural edition of the SA20.

Van der Merwe is among a select group of cricketers who have played ODI and T20I cricket for two countries.
