Batsman Janneman Malan has rejoined North West ahead of the 2024-24 domestic season in South Africa.

Last week, Boland chief executive officer James Fortuin confirmed Malan’s contract had been terminated.

This week, North West head coach Craig Alexander confirmed Malan’s return.

“Having Janneman back in the North West Dragons colours is a massive privilege for us. He started his career here and everything he has achieved since has been awesome,” Alexander told Club Cricket SA.

“He will add value on and off the field with his experience. It’s a massive signing for us. We are looking forward to having him back.”

Malan had been capped several times by North West before joining Western Province and the Cape Cobras in 2018. He moved to Boland in 2021.

Malan has played 23 ODIs and 11 T20Is for South Africa. In 2022, he was named the International Cricket Council’s Emerging Men’s Cricketer of the Year.

North West have also signed batsman Matthew Kleinveldt from the Titans and fast bowler Achille Cloete from Boland.

“With his calm persona and very relaxed outlook, Kleinveldt is going to be good to have in the squad,” added Alexander.

“His skills as an opening batter are what we need. He has a lot of experience and can add value with the ball as well.

“Three years ago, when I first saw Achille in action, I had my eye on him then already. To have him in the squad now is really exciting.

“Achille has a lot to offer with his height, bowling at 140 kilometres per hour. He adds to the armoury of fast bowlers we have.”

All-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and batsman Lesego Senokwane have left North West.
