North West have given wicketkeeper-batsman Tahir Isaacs a rookie contract for the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa.

Tahir debuted in first-class cricket earlier this year, playing three fixtures during North West’s 4-Day Series, division one, campaign.

“Tahir’s rookie contract shows there is reward for guys in our system. He is a great talent and a great example for those who are trying to play for the Dragons in the future,” North West head coach Craig Alexander told Club Cricket SA.

Lions upgrade Peter’s contract

Meanwhile, the Lions have upgraded leg-spinner Nqaba Peter‘s contract.

Peter was previously on a high performance contract. He has since signed a two-year professional contract, confirmed Lions chief executive officer Jono Leaf-Wright.

Peter is the third-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing T20 Challenge. He has taken 19 wickets in nine matches, including a four-for against the Titans in the semi-final.

Dolphins give rookie contract to Tristan Luus

The Dolphins have given fast bowler Tristan Luus and all-rounder Romashan Pillay rookie contracts.

Luus and Pillay have played for South Africa Under-19. Luus debuted for the Dolphins earlier this month.

“Basically we’re pretty settled. But we offered rookie contracts to two young under-19 players,” Dolphins chief executive Heinrich Strydom told Rapport.

“Tristan is a fast bowler from the Titans, an exciting prospect, and local Westville Boys’ High School’s Romashan – an all-rounder.”
