Seamer Keemo Paul affected a controversial ‘Mankad’ to see West Indies to victory over Zimbabwe in Tuesday’s key Under-19 World Cup match in Bangladesh.
With just one wicket in hand, Zimbabwe needed three runs to triumph. But the batsman facing, Kundai Matigimu, was never afforded the chance to strike the winning runs.
Instead, Paul didn’t follow through with the delivery, choosing rather to break the stumps at the non-striker’s end.
It’s worthwhile noting that non-striker Richard Ngarava was not warned, at any stage of the match, about prematurely leaving the crease prior to the contentious dismissal.
