South Africa Over-40 Invitational will be without left-arm seamer Luke Knipe for this month’s Africa Cup in Pretoria.
Knipe was named in the South Africa Over-40 Invitational squad earlier this year, but has since withdrawn. He has been sidelined by a shoulder injury.
Knipe played for Western Province Over-40 during May 2023’s inter-provincial tournament in Johannesburg. Western Province Over-40 won the title under the captaincy of former Proteas batsman Ashwell Prince.
Prince was later named captain of South Africa Over-40. He, too, has since withdrawn from participating in the Africa Cup.
South Africa Over-40 have also lost all-rounders Johan Fourie and Kyle Smit. Fourie and Smit recently underwent a hernia and knee operation, respectively.
The four-team Africa Cup will feature South Africa Over-40, South Africa Over-40 Invitational, Zimbabwe Over-40 and Namibia Over-40.
