Promoted Victoria Cricket Club name new head coach in WPCA premier league

Victoria Cricket Club have appointed new head coach Dean Oosterwyk ahead of the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.

Oosterwyk has succeeded former Victoria Cricket Club head coach Saadiek Davids, who resigned resigned in April 2025.

Former Claremont Cricket Club head coach Allison Johnson and former Tygerberg Cricket Club head coach Eugene Moleon were also among the candidates to succeed Davids.

This will be Oosterwyk’s second stint as Victoria Cricket Club head coach. He held the role before joining Claremont Cricket Club in 2018.

In 2024, Davids coached Victoria Cricket Club to WPCA first division A promotion. In 2025, he achieved WPCA premier league promotion with them. They also won the 2024-25 WPCA first division A T20 title during Davids’ tenure. Davids has since been appointed Primrose Cricket Club head coach.

Meanwhile, the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club have named new head coach Faiek Davids.

Davids has succeeded former UWC Cricket Club head coach Richard Pybus, who was appointed in 2021.

UWC Cricket Club ended the 2024-25 WPCA premier league in third-last position. They won nine and lost 13 matches.

In 2023-24, they ended the WPCA premier league in eighth position. In 2022-23 and 2021-22, they ended the WPCA premier league in fourth position.

Davids has previously worked with the Cape Cobras as assistant coach.
