Primrose Cricket Club Veterans beat Durbanville Cricket Club Veterans by three runs in Saturday, 17 May 2025’s Western Province Veterans Cricket Association league final.

Primrose Cricket Club Veterans posted a final total of 139 for six in 20 overs. Saadiek Davids top-scored with 39. Mike Brown took two wickets.

Durbanville Cricket Club Veterans replied with 136 for five in 20 overs. Martin van der Merwe, who is the reigning WPVCA Player of the Season and will play for Western Province Over-40 this month, hit 47. Davids, who was named Player of the Match, and Saleem Mukuddem took two wickets each.

‘We are happy to win and it was a good contest in the end. I’m proud of the team for this victory and we can only look to move forward from here. I’m very happy with the team,” said Primrose Cricket Club Veterans captain Sharhidd Taliep.

Durbanville Cricket Club Veterans captain Sean Ackermann added: “Well done to Primrose, who really got the better of us at the end. They have had a fantastic season, losing just one match. I’m proud of Durbanville, who still had a great season.”

This is Primrose Cricket Club Veterans’ second successive WPVCA title. They beat Brackenfell Cricket Club in the 2023-24 final.

Claremont Cricket Club Veterans beat Primrose Cricket Club Veterans in the 2022-23 final.

Montrose Cricket Club Veterans won the 2021-22 title after beating Claremont Cricket Club Veterans in the final.

Pinelands Cricket Club Veterans won the inaugural WPVCA league title in 2020-21.
