Seamer Ottneil Baartman has not been included in South Africa’s squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Baartman played for the Proteas in the 2024 T20 World Cup – and is the leading wicket-taker in the history of the SA20.
“We really need to start looking at Baartman as one of SA’s best white-ball bowlers,” wrote former Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn on social media.
“He’s the highest wicket-taker in SA20, won the league twice and made a final, let me remind you. That’s a competition that has four international players (often batters) – plus all the Proteas.
“He’s number one. That’s top quality, but he’ll be sitting at home for this year’s T20 World Cup.”
