Former Western Province head coach to work with son at Under-19 World Cup – ‘Beyond excited to have my dad joining me’

Former Western Province head coach Salieg Nackerdien will be Tanzania’s senior assistant coach at the 2026 Under-19 World Cup.

Nackerdien left Western Province to join Tanzania last year. His son, Imran Nackerdien, is Tanzania’s head coach.

“Beyond excited to have my dad joining me at the World Cup,” Nackerdien wrote on social media.

“Sharing this journey with him is more than just cricket, it’s a legacy – a reminder of where I come from and the values he’s instilled in me. Nackerdien legacy lives on.”

Former Cape Cobras head coach Paul Adams will work with South Africa Under-19 at the tournament.

The 2026 T20 World Cup will be played in Namibia and Zimbabwe from 15 January to 6 February.

Australia are the reigning champions. They beat India in 2024’s final.
