Western Province named the XI for this week’s 4-Day Domestic Series fixture against the Dolphins at Newlands.

All-rounder Oliver Whitehead, seamer Mthiwekhaya Nabe – and batsmen Eddie Moore and Bongile Mfunelwa – returned to the XI. This is Mfunelwa’s second first-class cap.

Leg-spinner Josh Breed, batsman Kashief Joseph, all-rounder Mbulelo Dube and seamer Raeeq Daniels were named in the 16-man squad, but not the XI. Breed, Joseph, Dube and Daniels haven’t yet debuted at first-class level.

All-rounder Juan James was also omitted from the XI.

Western Province are without South Africa A duo Mihlali Mpongwana and Tshepo Moreki – and Proteas all-rounder George Linde.

“I think both teams lose a couple of guys to the SA A squad and that gives new players some opportunity to go out there and prove themselves,” said Western Province captain Beuran Hendricks.

Western Province currently occupy sixth position on the 4-Day Domestic Series, division one, points table after defeats to the Warriors and Lions – and last week’s win over North West.
