“We are looking forward to welcome South Africa for the opening series of our 2025-27 World Test Championship campaign,” said PCB chief executive officer Sumair Ahmed.

South Africa are the reigning World Test Championship title holders. They beat Australia in the WTC final at Lord’s in England earlier this year.

“Starting the new cycle against the current Test champions will provide quality cricket for our players and fans,” added Ahmed.

The Proteas have not played Test cricket in Pakistan since 2021. Batsmen Dean Elgar, Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis were in South Africa’s Test XI at the time, but have since retired.
