Former Cape Cobras spinner returns to Primrose Cricket Club – ‘He adds great balance of experience to youth’

Spinner David Schierhout has returned to Primrose Cricket Club for the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association first division A.

Schierhout left Primrose Cricket Club for Yorkshire Cricket Club last year, but has since rejoined.

He played seven first-class fixtures from 2019 to 2021, including one for the Cape Cobras.

Primrose Cricket Club ended the 2024-25 WPCA first division A in third position. They won 17 and lost five matches – and missed promotion to the 2025-26 premier league by four points.

Primrose Cricket Club have since appointed new head coach Saadiek Davids and new assistant coach Ahmad Magiet – and had several players return.

Batsmen Qaasim Salie and Abdul-Qadeer Salie have rejoined Primrose Cricket Club from Yorkshire Cricket Club and Ottoman Cricket Club, respectively.

All-rounders Adeeb Levy and Raees Sylvester have returned from United Cricket Club and Mitchells Plain Cricket Club, respectively.

“We’re excited to welcome all these players for the upcoming season. Their inclusion adds valuable depth to our squad and creates healthy competition within the club – a key ingredient in selecting the best team each week,” Davids told Club Cricket SA.

“This group brings a great balance of experience and youth, which is exactly what we’re aiming for this season. The players have been working exceptionally hard over the past few months.

“We’re confident that their dedication will reflect in our performances. We look forward to an exciting and competitive season ahead.”
