Rylands Cricket Club have appointed former Tanzania assistant coach Nadeem Ahmed head coach for the 2023-24 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Ahmed has succeeded former Brackenfell Cricket Club head coach Rushdi Jappie, who has returned to Brackenfell Cricket Club.
Ahmed previously worked with Tanzania and Saint Helena in international cricket.
“Nadeem is passionate about developing young cricketers and sees coaching as both an art and a science,” read a statement from Rylands Cricket Club.
“He wants to use that approach to allow players to reach their potential in an enabling, trusting and fun environment.
“Nadeem insisted on meeting and addressing the existing club players before we made any public announcement. We look forward to the Nadeem Ahmed way. We wish him everything of the best.”
Rylands Cricket Club ended the 2022-23 WPCA premier league in ninth position, with seven wins and 15 defeats.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Zahid Allie, all-rounder Abdallah Bayoumy and seamer Shaikh Ahmed Parker have since left Rylands Cricket Club for Blue Bells Cricket Club, Primrose Cricket Club and Cravenby Cricket Club, respectively.
