What Mitchells Plain Cricket Club said

“Williams returns to the Eagles after a seven-year stint at Rylands Cricket Club, where he helped them gain promotion to the WPCA premier League,” said Mitchells Plain Cricket Club vice-chairperson Fadhli Allie.

“He also played for Police Cricket Club in the National Club Championship. His left-arm spin has always been of impeccable line and length – and has caused many top cricketers problems. He is also very handy with a bat in hand.”

Mitchells Plain Cricket Club relegated

Mitchells Plain Cricket Club’s first XI have been relegated to the WPCA first division D. They finished in second-last position in the 2021-22 first division C, with four wins and 14 defeats.

“Williams returns to Mitchells Plain Cricket Club to help get the club back to winning ways after a major setback last season,” added the club.

Mitchells Plain Cricket Club director of coaching role

Williams has succeeded former Mitchells Plain Cricket Club head coach Grant Scheepers, who has been promoted to director of coaching.

“Grant Scheepers has been promoted to the director of coaching role – and will oversee all coaching structures within the club, including five men’s teams, five junior teams and the women’s team.

Zubair Visser has also joined from Ottomans Cricket Club – and will be our new batting coach for the new season.

Faiez Sylvester will continue in his role as women’s coach. These changes are in line with the club’s goal to provide qualified and experienced coaches that will help develop youngsters from within the system.”

Mitchells Plain Cricket Club, meanwhile, have reappointed first XI captain Keegan de Villiers – and gained spinner Raees Sylvester from Primrose Cricket Club.
