Proteas ODI and T20I captain Temba Bavuma has joined the Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the remainder of the 2023 SA20.
Bavuma was overlooked during last year’s SA20 player auction – and was not picked as a wildcard earlier this year.
He recently scored a century in the ODI series against England.
“I am excited to join the Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the remainder of their SA20 campaign. I look forward to the opportunity,” said Bavuma.
The Joburg Super Kings, meanwhile, have signed Western Province spinner Kyle Simmonds as a replacement for the suspended Aaron Phangiso.
The Pretoria Capitals currently occupy first position in the 2023 SA20’s six-team standings. Durban’s Super Giants are at the bottom of the standings.
